Adaptations for enabling access to Wii Games
The Motion sensors of the Nintendo Wii are fairly forgiving with regards to the accuracy and speed with which they need to be used. This therefore allows the remotes to be used by persons with impaired or compromised movement, with success.
This impaired movement can also cause difficulties to hold or grip the remotes. Using simple wrist splints (and an abundance of Velcro and elastic) it is possible to secure the remotes to the back of the hand allowing access to cardiovascular games such as Wii Boxing plus others (not requiring the use of buttons).
You can now purchase similar neoprene splints from The Game Train

Equally it is possible to adapt the Wii remote to replace the A and B buttons. This requires a tri headed screwdriver and some confidence, not to mention additional buttons, jacks and wires.
The games themselves can also be adapted. For example, by placing the Wii Fit board on a flat surface the player can sit on the board and play some of the games, to work on sitting posture, balance and improve awareness.
